Q.1–Contrinex Automation Private Ltd are an eminent manufacturer, supplier and exporter of Industrial Equipment & Sensors.
Could you please elaborate what kinds of products you manufacture and how they are integrated in automation?
Contrinex is a leading manufacturer of sensors for factory automation. The Swiss company, headquartered in Corminboeuf near Fribourg (CH), has a unique and innovative range of products whose features far surpass those of standard sensors. Contrinex is a manufacturer of inductive and photoelectric sensors as well as safety and RFID systems and world market leader for miniature sensors, sensors with long operating distances and devices for particularly demanding operating conditions (all-metal, high-pressure and high-temperature resistant sensors)
Q.2–The company profile claims the advanced in-house designing unit set up in their infrastructure is well furnished with the essential amenities.
What is the basis of this claim?
Contrinex has a state of the art Research and Development Centre at Corminboeuf. The highly qualified R&D Team is constantly working with latest technologies and are prepared in advance with the products for future, e.g., our sensors are already equipped with IO-Link, which is a part of Industry 4.0 revolution. Also, the team has access to latest technologies regarding prototyping of products for a faster in-house development of new products.
Q.3–You have clientele base across the globe. Which countries are your major customers?
We are now spread all across the globe and our customers are global (having units in various countries) as well as local (groups functioning in respective countries). However, like all other Automation companies, we are strong in Europe, USA, China, India, and Asia Pacific.
Q.4–Since 1970 when the company was set up, how has been the journey for next 45 years?
Since its foundation in 1972 by Peter Heimlicher, Dipl Ing ETH, Contrinex has grown from a one-man operation to a multinational group with over 500 employees worldwide. More than 14 subsidiaries cover the core markets in Europe, Asia, North and South America. He ensured the company’s technological lead through ongoing innovative sensing solutions protected by patents and chip design. At the same time, he positioned Contrinex as a major player in the market for premium sensors. Starting in the late nineties, Peter pursued global expansion by founding sales subsidiaries in all major industrial markets (currently 14 sales companies). In 2016 he stepped down from the Management Board. He continues to work for Contrinex as Senior Consultant in R&D. Mrs Annette Heimlicher, CEO, is now taking the organization forward with the same zeal and principles to achieve further goals of expansion.
Q.5– Are industry quality norms different in different countries?
We have four manufacturing plants in various parts of the world but the same quality of products is maintained at the highest levels in all countries. No matter where the sensors are manufactured, the process and quality norms are identical thus resulting in the products with exactly similar quality. Regular audits in all plants across the globe carried out by Quality Department at HQ ensure the correctness and maintenance of Production processes and equipment.
Q.6–The company also emphasises on quality testing, research & development and warehousing wing, so as to ensure the smooth functioning of the organizational activities. Could you elaborate the process?
We have a central control from HQ for all activities for a smooth functioning. R&D is based at Corminboeuf, Switzerland where continuous work is going on for new products to be launched in future. Global QA Department is based at Hungary, our main manufacturing plant, and ensures the quality of production in all the plants worldwide thru regular checks and audits. Reagrding supply chain, we have three warehousing hubs, Hungary, Dallas and Singapore, catering to countries falling in respective zones, thus streamlining and reducing delivery time to our esteemed customers.
Q.7– Any future plans ?
Future plans include maintaining our tradition of providing innovative sensors to the industry like the extra sensing ranges, sensors for typical applications, detection of objects which was not possible before… and so on. In addition to this, we intend to make our organization even better place to work by providing a better balance between work and social life. Our CEO, Mrs Annette Heimlicher, takes utmost care of all the employees like family.
Q.8–How GST is going to help your organization ?
GST is a long pending historic reform for India and will reduce a lot of taxation related work. This will help us to concentrate more on business and be competitive in market. We need to supply throughout India and GST will now give us the relief of single type of tax instead of various type of taxes and Returns. It is a welcome move from the Government.
